MSP WELCOMES SUPPORT FOR PUPILS RECEIVING EXAM RESULTS

As pupils across Rutherglen and Cambuslang prepare to receive their exam results on Tuesday 4th August, local MSP, Clare Haughey, has highlighted the range of resources that are available to help them and their families take their next steps with confidence. 

Almost 150,000 candidates across Scotland will receive results this year, and Skills Development Scotland (SDS) careers advisers are standing by to provide information, advice and guidance on the full range of education, training, and employment pathways available across the country.

The SDS Results telephone helpline will be open from 8am on results day, and can be reached on 0808 100 8000.  The full opening times are Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th August, 8am to 8pm, and Thursday 6th and Friday 7th August, 9am to 5pm.

“Results day can be a moment of great pride for so many young people and their families, as the culmination of all of their hard work and determination.

“I want to give thanks for all of the hard work and support which our teachers and other school staff provide throughout the year to prepare pupils for the big step of sitting formal exams.    

“It can also be a time of mixed emotions and uncertainty for some learners, and it’s so important that they can access the support and advice they need.

“That’s why the Scottish Government ensures that every young person has access to free, professional guidance and advice – from the moment the results ping on their phones and arrive through their letterboxes. 

“Whatever those results are, the routes ahead remain rich and varied – whether into university, college, apprenticeships, training, or employment.”
