MSP ‘DELIGHTED’ BLANTYRE SOCCER ACADEMY ASSET TRANSFER PROCEEDS
Blantyre MSP Clare Haughey has welcomed the news that a South Lanarkshire Council committee has approved the asset transfer of Rowans Hall to Blantyre Soccer Academy.
As the Hamilton Advertiser reported earlier this month (November 9), at previous meeting of the housing and technical resources committee, councillors could not agree on the terms of the £1 sale of the hall and surrounding land at Birch Place.
This prompted Blantyre MSP Clare Haughey to publicly express her ‘disappointment’ at the delay.
The MSP has since welcomed the news that the transfer was given the go-ahead on the 21st November.
Commenting, Clare Haughey MSP said:
“First and foremost, I am absolutely delighted for Blantyre Soccer Academy. They are a tremendous local organisation who I know will put great use to Rowans Hall. This was a win-win for them and South Lanarkshire Council, who no longer are required to spend thousands maintaining the hall.
“I know how important this asset transfer is to Blantyre Soccer Academy, so I am grateful the committee convened a further meeting so quickly to allow it to proceed.”
