PEOPLE MIS-SOLD SOLAR PANELS URGED TO ATTEND MEETING HELD BY BLANTYRE MSP
Blantyre MSP Clare Haughey is hosting an advice surgery in Blantyre on Monday 1st October for constituents who have been affected by the alleged mis-selling of solar panels.
Cambuslang company HELMS installed solar panels on many homes throughout Blantyre leaving many saddled with “crippling” Green Deal loan repayments. Clare Haughey MSP has been working with those affected for around 18 months, and set up a Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament working towards possible recourse.
The Blantyre MSP’s advice surgery is in conjunction with Hamilton Citizens Advice Bureau and Trading Standards Scotland, and the purpose of which is to help people with their complaints process.
The advice surgery will start at 7pm in Blantyre Old Parish Church, Craigmuir Road, Blantyre, G72 9UA.
Commenting, Clare Haughey MSP said:
“Many of my constituents, particularly for Blantyre, have been left with crippling debts after having solar panels installed by the company HELMS.
“I’ve been pushing the UK Government, who are responsible for the related Green Deal scheme, and the newly privatised Green Deal Finance Company for a resolution for my constituents, however many Blantyre residents I’ve spoken to still haven’t started the complaints process whilst others require additional support.
“My advice surgery, along with Hamilton Citizens Advice Bureau and Trading Standards Scotland, will be there to offer people advice on how to start the correct process, whilst we will also give an update on the work we have been doing over the last year.”
If you wish to attend please contact Clare Haughey MSP on 0141 561 5131 or email clare.haughey.msp@parliament.scot.
