DEBATE ON SCOTTISH APPRENTICESHIP WEEK
Last week, I took part in a debate celebrating Scottish Apprenticeship Week. Within my speech, I spoke of my visits to MD Electrical Contractors and Arnold Clark's Rutherglen branch during this year's and last year's Scottish Apprenticeship Week. I also highlighted the work of Clyde Gateway in supporting local apprentices.
CLARE HAUGHEY WELCOMES CHILD POVERTY DELIVERY PLAN
SNP MSP Clare Haughey has welcomed a range of Scottish Government proposals to tackle child poverty – including plans for a new income supplement, which will provide financial support to families who need it most. Increasing family incomes and reducing living costs are prioritised in the Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan, which sets out how the Scottish Government will meet ambitious legal targets to tackle child poverty.
MSP CONGRATULATES BLANTYRE OSCARS WITH PARLIAMENTARY MOTION
Blantyre MSP Clare Haughey has tabled a motion to the Scottish Parliament congratulating the “nominees and winners” of the Blantyre Oscars. The award ceremony which took place on Saturday (24th March), celebrated the people of Blantyre, its voluntary and community groups, as well as local businesses for their impact on the communities of the town and further afield.
RUTHERGLEN AND CAMBUSLANG PROJECTS SEE WINDFALL FROM CLIMATE CHALLENGE FUND
SNP MSP Clare Haughey has praised organisations from Rutherglen and Cambuslang who have been awarded bumper grants due to their efforts in cutting carbon emissions. The Climate Challenge Fund, an initiative launched by the Scottish Government to combat climate change, has helped over 1,000 projects across Scotland since its inception – with over £100 million in funding being awarded over the last decade.

On Friday 23rd, Clare officially opened ACE Place Forest Nursery in her constituency.
RUTHERGLEN MSP ATTENDS PALESTINIAN FIREFIGHTER AWARD CEREMONY IN CAMBUSLANG
Further to our reports in January, Cambuslang once more played host to some special visitors from the Middle East this month. Firefighters from Palestine were in the town to train at the Scottish Fire and Rescue’s national training centre.

I used my column in this week's Rutherglen Reformer to highlight 'fair work'. Scotland’s economy remains strong and our labour market is positive - with high employment and low unemployment. However, we know that, for too many, the experience of work is not always positive.
MINISTERIAL STATEMENT ON SCOTLAND’S NEW EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT SERVICE
The Scottish Government have launched a new employment support service, and during the question session today to announce the initiative, I asked the government how it differs from previous DWP employment support programmes.
TOPICAL QUESTION ON EUROPEAN ARREST WARRANTS
Today at Parliament, I secured a topical question on European Arrest Warrants. The Cabinet Secretary in his response was clear that the Scottish Government profoundly regrets that the Spanish Government has failed to engage in dialogue with Catalonia’s politicians and that, instead, the issue is now subject to the judicial process.
