MSP CONGRATULATES BLANTYRE OSCARS WITH PARLIAMENTARY MOTION
Blantyre MSP Clare Haughey has tabled a motion to the Scottish Parliament congratulating the “nominees and winners” of the Blantyre Oscars.
The award ceremony which took place on Saturday (24th March), celebrated the people of Blantyre, its voluntary and community groups, as well as local businesses for their impact on the communities of the town and further afield.
Within Clare Haughey MSP’s motion, she paid particular tribute to Paul Veverka, the event’s organiser, for his “hard work and dedication”.
Clare Haughey MSP attended the ceremony with former Blantyre MP Margaret Ferrier.
Commenting, Blantyre MSP Clare Haughey said:
“First of all, I wish to thank Paul Veverka for organising such a tremendous night on Saturday. Last year’s ceremony was incredible, but this year’s certainly pipped it. Every nominee and winner should be very proud of themselves, and I am delighted their talents and achievements were celebrated in such style.
“The community in Blantyre never disappoint, and I am looking forward to 2019’s ceremony already.”
