A new study published by the UK Trade Policy Observatory has revealed the shocking extent of potential job losses in the event of a no-deal Brexit. Data calculated by the research group at Sussex University suggests that 63,000 jobs based in Scotland could be at risk if Britain leaves the EU without a deal, and Rutherglen’s Westminster constituency could lose 750 jobs alone.

The in-built wait of a minimum of five weeks before payment means that anyone making a claim this month will need to survive until January without money to which they are entitled.

The next payment of the Carer's Allowance Supplement will be made to the majority of carers on 14 December. This will be only the second payment of the supplement ever made, after the Scottish Government recently became responsible for a small number of benefits and subsequently set up the new service, Social Security Scotland.
