“While we need to move carefully and gradually, the route map laid out by the First Minister clearly sets out the steps that will take us through this crisis. Information on the re-opening of schools to the restarting of postponed NHS services are included in the detailed document, so I strongly recommend everyone takes the time to read it.

“The vast majority of people in Rutherglen and Cambuslang have stuck rigidly to the rules, but there has been a small minority that aren’t and that is very disappointing. Many people throughout Scotland have lost their lives to this disease and we can’t risk another peak – so we must continue to follow the instructions.

“We will get through this by working together, sticking to the advice to suppress the virus further, and get back a way of life that is as close to normal as possible.”
