LOCAL MSP VISITS MODERN APPRENTICES
To mark Scottish Apprenticeships Week, Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey popped along to visit staff at SPIE Ltd.
SPIE, whose headquarters are based in Rutherglen Links Business Park, are an engineering company who specialise in delivering smart engineering and technology-driven solutions for the built environment.
Over Scottish Apprenticeships Week, employers, apprentices, and training providers across Scotland come together to celebrate and showcase the contribution that work-based learning offers to individuals, employers and the economy.
Now in its tenth year, Scottish Apprenticeship Week is an annual campaign co-ordinated by Skills Development Scotland.
Commenting, Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey said:
“SPIE are one of thousands of businesses across the country who recognise the value of work-based learning. It was a pleasure to visit their Rutherglen site, and speak to their Modern Apprentices about their development.
“Modern Apprenticeships, part of the Apprenticeship family alongside Foundation and Graduate Apprenticeships, are a great career path, enabling people to earn money, whilst helping to expand knowledge and develop skills.
“The Scottish Government is on track to meet their target of 30,000 new apprenticeships starts by 2020/21, pursuing inclusive growth for the wellbeing and prosperity of Scotland’s people.”
