CUNINGAR LOOP TRIUMPHS AT AWARD CEREMONY
Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey has welcomed the news that Cuningar Loop Park in Rutherglen was the recipient of a UK-wide town planning award.
The prestigious Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence were held on April 24, and Cuningar Loop was one of 14 different winners.
The park was the recipient of the Health and Wellbeing award after being nominated by South Lanarkshire Council.
Since its opening in 2016, Cuningar Loop has achieved many top accolades – including the Saltire Civil Engineering Award in 2017.
Commenting, Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey said:
“Cuningar Loop is one the top attractions in my Rutherglen constituency, and there is little surprise it has won yet another award.
“The project is the perfect example of how you can turn an unused landfill site into a thriving woodland retreat for local people.
“Special congratulations must go to Clyde Gateway, South Lanarkshire and Glasgow City councils, the Forestry Commission Scotland, as well as Healthy N Happy who have all contributed to the development of this first-class public park.”
