RUTHERGLEN MSP WELCOMES CALDERWOOD PUPILS TO PARLIAMENT

Local MSP Clare Haughey hosted over 60 staff and pupils from Calderwood Primary at the Scottish Parliament last week (March 14).

The kids and teachers, who were joined by Rutherglen Central and North Councillor Janine Calikes, were given a tour of the Holyrood building, attended a debate, and held a Q&A with their local MSP.

Commenting, Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey said:

“It’s always fantastic to welcome pupils from local schools to Parliament. The group from Calderwood Primary were incredibly engaged and asked some brilliant questions about the Scottish Parliament and the work I do to represent them.”

Mrs Bloomer, one of the P7 teachers who accompanied the pupils, added:

“It was fantastic to visit the Scottish Parliament with the P7s and the children really enjoyed their trip. They particularly enjoyed meeting their MSP, Clare Haughey, and watching a debate in the chamber. It was fantastic for our pupils to see democracy in action.”
