BUSY BEES BUZZ IN RUTHERGLEN POLITICIANS

Local MSP Clare Haughey and Rutherglen Central and North Councillor Janine Calikes visited Busy Bees to congratulate them on recent funding success.

The group, which base themselves at Reuther Hall, were the recipients of £7,899 from the Big Lottery Fund.

The money will be used to provide crafting activities for elderly people in the Rutherglen area in an effort to boost confidence and reduce feelings of isolation.

Commenting, Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey said:

“Busy Bees are well deserving of their grant, and I know the money will be put to great use. Loneliness and social isolation are real challenges for many elderly people locally, so groups like this do vital work.”

Cllr Janine Calikes added:

“What a fantastic group of people. Busy Bees group is so friendly and welcoming. I would encourage any older person with an interest in sewing, knitting or crochet to go along on a Friday morning.”

Maureen Clark, the chairperson of Busy Bees, said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome Clare Haughey MSP and Cllr Calikes to our craft club and see our great work.”
