Clare met with representatives of First Bus to mark the delivery of a batch of brand new double decker buses for use on the service 18 route. Service 18 links Rutherglen with Glasgow City Centre, as well as Bridgeton, Dalmarnock, Burnside, Cathkin and East Kilbride.
The new double decker buses come with the latest Euro 6 engines and stop/start technology, so they’ll provide a more eco-friendly journey. They also offer an improved customer experience with USB-charging ports at every seat, free wi-fi and comfortable double padded e-leather seating.
Commenting, Clare said:
“It was great to see the Service 18 new vehicles on display recently at Tesco Rutherglen.
I was impressed, as were many of the Tesco shoppers who also climbed on board to view the bus, with the new comfortable seating, free Wi-Fi and phone charging points, and I am looking forward to seeing them out on service.
This is a major investment by First Bus, which will provide 21 brand new low emissions buses on this key route between Glasgow City Centre and East Kilbride, via Rutherglen and Burnside.”
