Commenting on the closure of the 2 Sisters factory in Cambuslang, Clare Haughey MSP said:
“It is deeply disappointing and very sad that after decades in the town, 2 Sisters will close its doors in Cambuslang for the last time this week. My heart goes out to the 450-strong workforce who were made redundant, other local businesses in the 2 Sisters supply chain, as well as the wider local community.
“I would like to thank the workers, Unite the Union, South Lanarkshire Council and the Scottish Government who all left no stone unturned in trying to save the plant and jobs, but despite our best efforts 2 Sisters always seemed intent on closing the site.
“It is a very sad day for Cambuslang, and I hope all stakeholders can continue working together to minimise the damaging effect locally and to keep supporting those who have been made redundant.”
