TECHSTARTER FUNDING LAUNCHED BY VODAFONE
Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey is encouraging tech-savvy and budding entrepreneurs to sign up to a new social technology innovation award launched by Vodafone.
Vodafone TechStarter aims to uncover and develop ideas to improve health, education, environmental protection and social mobility. In addition to financial awards, winners will benefit from access to industry and technology expertise from Vodafone and the Social Tech Trust, enabling them to take their innovations from prototype to market readiness. This will include coaching, commercial development support, mentorship, and investment and partnership advice.
The award fund is open to UK-based inventors, innovators, charities, social enterprises, businesses and entrepreneurs. The fund totals £300,000 and will be shared between ten different winners – four in a not for profit category, four for profit, and two who are voted for by Vodafone employees.
Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey is calling on those who are interested to visit Vodafone’s Techstarter webpage and submit an application before next week’s deadline of the 23rd October.
Commenting, the MSP said:
“This is a great opportunity for people in Rutherglen and Cambuslang to lead the way in providing technological and innovative solutions to some of society’s most pressing challenges. Recent advances in areas like health now mean we can live longer and better lives, however there can often be financial barriers for those who wish to develop their innovations.
“This funding could help allow those with great ideas to start-up and scale-up their plans, hopefully creating something to make the world a better place.”
Applications can be submitted online until the 23rd October at https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/vodafone-techstarter.
