At First Minister’s Questions this week, I had the opportunity to ask how the Scottish Government were marking this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week.
As a follow-up question, I asked the First Minister about a campaign which is calling on internet providers and search engines to do more to take down websites which offer instructions on how to self-harm.
Suicide prevention charities are having to spend substantial amounts of money to ensure their websites are higher ranked on search engines in the hope that the person seeks their support instead.
The campaign is being led by my SNP colleague Gillian Martin MSP and I was proud to have the opportunity to raise her campaign at Parliament.
