HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY MARKED BY RUTHERGLEN MSP

Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey has signed a special memorial book at Holyrood – pledging her commitment to honouring those who died during the Holocaust.

The Holocaust Educational Trust placed a Book of Commitment in the Scottish Parliament, giving MSPs the chance to remember those who were persecuted and killed during the Holocaust. By signing the book, Ms Haughey has also honoured the survivors who continue to work tirelessly to educate young people about their experiences through the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Outreach programme.

After signing the Book of Commitment, Clare Haughey MSP commented:

“I was pleased to show my support for Holocaust Memorial Day by signing the Book of Commitment at Holyrood. Holocaust Memorial Day provides us with an important opportunity to remember the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.

“As we mark the memorial day, we must not only remember the millions of victims of the Holocaust – we must also work day in and day out to ensure that anti-Semitism, hatred and bigotry of any kind does not prevail.

“I know that communities across my Rutherglen constituency will want to join me in remembering those who were lost – and ensure that acts such as these are never permitted to happen anywhere in the world ever again.”
