Rutherglen Constituency MSP, Clare Haughey has welcomed news that the number of Police Officers in Scotland increased to over 16,500 by the end of 2024, saying that the SNP is making a positive difference to policing in Rutherglen and Cambuslang, and across Scotland.   Figures released recently by Scotland's Chief Statistician show that the number of full-time equivalent officers has increased over the last year to 16,508.

Rutherglen Constituency MSP, Clare Haughey, has demanded that Labour-led South Lanarkshire Council puts the increased funding for education from the SNP Government to good use, and protect education spending in South Lanarkshire in the upcoming council budget.   A 6.5% increase, delivered by the SNP Government in the recent Scottish budget, means the funding available for South Lanarkshire to increase the local teacher workforce will rise by over £12 million.

Under the new legislation, local authorities have the flexibility to decide if some streets should be exempt from restrictions - for example if they are too narrow to allow emergency service vehicles to pass if cars are fully parked on the roadway.
